In a time of serious global democratic decline, and especially with the United States falling from the ranks of true democracies and posing a very real threat to Canada, it is crucial that the next federal government do what it can to strengthen governance and protect democracy.

Perhaps there may be more emphasis on defending CND democracy once the election is decided and assuming a Liberal government, the Feds focus in more detail on defending against the 'Orange Menace,' create closer relations with the EU and other countries as well as untangle barriers to interprovincial trade? With good economics comes appropriate policy.
Does anyone look at how ideas like those used to keep a judicial branch of government or central bank independent of politicians would apply to journalism?
A big part of it is job security for those involved which has good snd bad parts - US judges have job security so it must be more than just that.
